Student Bio: For the past two years Celso do Cabo has been a Ph.D. student of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Prior to UMass Lowell, he worked at Volvo Construction Equipment as intern in the fabrication engineering department developing devices for excavator welding and painting. Also, he assisted the implementation of standardized work for the painting shop. He also held a position at Zanini Renk Equipments at the innovation engineering department, focusing on the development of new equipment and products and improvement of existing products and performing modal analysis using finite element techniques in new projects.
Celso graduated in mechanical engineering at Federal University of São Carlos where he received the Brazilian Automotive Engineering Association Award for new engineers. His research during his undergraduate course were on valve systems dynamics, finite element analysis and nonlinear dynamics which was funded by the São Paulo state research support foundation. He is also a mechanical technician at Industrial Technician High-school at Bauru. He also had an exchange to National University of Ireland, Galway during his undergraduate course funded by a Brazilian Federal program called Science without Borders, where he achieved a green belt six sigma certification and researched hyperelastic deformation problems in finite elements. His research was presented at XVIII International Symposium on Dynamic Problems of Mechanics (DINAME) and at the SPIE Smart Structures and Nondestructive Evaluation.
