A New ASCE Standard for LRFD Design of Pultruded Fiber Reinforced Polymer Structures
This new standard was developed by a consensus standards development process that has been accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), meeting the requirements of openness, balance, consensus and due process. The presentation will discuss the LRFD design philosophy for pultruded FRP structures. It will discuss the material requirements, design requirements for members in tension, compression, flexure and shear, torsion, and combinations of these forces, requirements for design of connections and seismic design. This new standard will enable the structural engineers and architects tocreate safe design for new building, bridges, prefabricated components or structural systems, and art works that are easy to construct, have high strength and light weight, and can resist adverse environments.
