TIDC Webinar Series – February 19th, 2025
Guidelines for the Modeling, Design, & Construction of Integral Abutment Bridges
Held Virtually on February 19th, 2025
Integral Abutment Bridges (IABs) are single to multi span continuous deck bridges that have continuous decks and relatively flexible integral abutment walls and foundations. This bridge design has become increasingly utilized in the U.S., the Northeast in particular, due to reduced maintenance costs associated with the expansion joints and abutment bearings.
In this TIDC Webinar, learn about the TIDC’s efforts to streamline the guidelines for the behavior, analysis, and design of IABs. This project aims to improve the analysis, design, and construction of IABs by investigating the impact of the span range, skew angle range, and soil-structure interaction on IABs.
Join Presenter Dr Susan Faraji of the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, as she presents updates on the development of these IAB guidelines.
